What's the Maximum amount of money the parents of a h1b person can carry from US to India when they are returning after a visit on B1 visa? I heard it should be a dollar less than $10,000 per person. Somebody told me its $10,000 per party. Please answer this.

Pappu - Can we also ask all the users to update the amount of taxes they've paid in 2008 (now that everyone is filing for their returns)? There seems to be a negative campaign against us that somehow we don't need to pay taxes and we are a burden on local entities.
Also, if possible, can we track how many of us are willingly capable of purchasing a home as a bargain chip for GC. I believe that we are capable of stimulating this economy and it'll be for everyones good, including US Citizens.

It is a double standard. You are a temporary worker with limited rights, but when question of paying taxes comes, IRS considers H1, L1 etc. as "US Person", which means they have to declare their world income and pay taxes to the US govenment on all of it. Moreover, if you don't contribute to SS for 40 quarters (10 years), you get nothing back when you retire. You pay for Medicare, but will get nothing unless you are a legal resident when you are eligible for medicare.
Also, if possible, can we track how many of us are willingly capable of purchasing a home as a bargain chip for GC. I believe that we are capable of stimulating this economy and it'll be for everyones good, including US Citizens.

Our appointment was at 9:00 Am but due to NJ traffic we reached at 10:00 AM. We both were worried that we may be turned back but it turnout that they had given 9:00 AM appointment to everyone.
As soon as you will go on the second floor you will be handed over a cardboard with an application to be filled by you. Fill that application and wait in a line to be called by a clerk for checking your ID and hands. The person will closely check your hand, most probably to make sure that they are good for FP.
Once she is satisfied, you will be given a number and asked to be seated in a big hall. Your number will be called and the person will take FP for every fingers in your hand. You will also be photographed.
The whole process took us an hour.
Just one more thing, plenty of parking is available in front of the prudential building.

So USCIS will never see the flowers becoz they are boxed.. and they will never get delivered becoz they are being routed from the airport itself. No major news media covered the few deliveries at USCIS.. What was the point of the campaign again?

We were at the loading dock by 10 30 am ( Delivery estimate was between 11 am and 1 pm) and DHL appeared to
have already delivered around 50 boxes once around 9 am. All the flowers we sent are boxed . The visuals will
be boxes and not flowers in the evening when the youtube video will be uploaded. UPS delivered nex. We got the
video of the whole delivery and so did the CNN-IBN/Voice of America folks. There were around 30 boxes or so from
UPS. Next Fedex delivered and there were around 10-15 boxes coming out. While we were doing the recording one of the
officers politely told us not to capture federal buildings and we told them that we were only capturing the delivery of
flowers. After this what ever truck was coming in, they were reversing and pushing back into the dock so that the
delivery cannot be taped. CNN-IBN reporter asked for permission to go inside the loading dock and she was promptly
denied any permission. Then We had a down pour for almost 20-30 minutes and we had to leave the place.
It appears that the S&H dept now knows that most of the flowers are being delivered by DHL/UPS/FEDEX, they are taking
care of the diversion at National airport it self.
In the future if any one wants to do a flower campaign, Please select 2 local florists
(only two florists, in that particular city) and have people call and place orders/online. That way
we can talk with 2 florists and track their delivery easily for picture/video. Every one who tried to call
FTD/proflowers had alot of trouble getting any thing out of them. Actually, we cant blame them because they
are not doing it locally,instead they are putting their orders via national carriers.
Where do we go from here
If people really want to go out and get the main stream media attention, DC is the perfect choice. How ever,Don't plan on a weekend. If we do it right, we could be live on TV and the whole country will ask whats going on, along with the law makers. That will offer a platform for solving the issue at its roots.If you really want to do this, Dont come up with reasons like I dont have time off for a day or I have a project due. I can understand if 1 or 2% of our active members say it, but when 98% of our active members say that I can understand what it is. May be its time we figure out whether we prefer anonymity and pontifical verbatim on the online forum to expressing our concern/disappointment openly. Do not get offended and start flaming me. Just my thoughts.

I am not familiar with ur line of work. I am into manufacturing.I used my AC21 and working on EAD now.
You can invoke AC21 and work either on h1b(provided newcompany transfers) or EAD. It is highly advisable NOT to port on a pending I-140.

Even i'm in the same situation. My employer does not let me to interact with the attorney and is sad in following up.

Just a thought.... Don't waste your time with dishonest employers. I have wasted 2 years on my previous employer. I would have my PD 2001. My friend wasted 3 years. Now and me and my friend work for different companies, with very good relationship, having no problem interacting with lawyers or having our employers sign any paper CIS might ask. I had victim mentality until I realized that it's a market economy. You sell, your employer buys. If you don't like to deal with him, start looking for another "buyer". Don't rush. Find a good job, transfer your H1, and start everything afresh - I know it's hard, but that's a way to go. Don't be stuck to your employer for 5 years and later cry "my employer didn't want to apply for I-140, didn't give me latter for I-485", "my lawyer didn't respond to RFE, now I'm in trouble", etc. etc. CIS/DOL will give you enough headache even without employer's "assistance".
And, btw, I have waited 9 months for my PERM to be approved. No RFE, no nothing - just 9 freaking months.

Hi All,
My Wife�s I-94 expired on Jan 15, 2010 and I did not know that I had to apply for her H4 extension while applying for my H1B extension under regular processing on March 1, 2010.My employer also forgot to apply for H4 extension. Now that, it�s been more than 2 months with the I-94 expired, Can you please let me know what options I have to resolve this issue?
1.Can I upgrade my H1 Processing to Premium and add the H4 processing to it, so that both H1 and H4 are processed simultaneously?
2.If adding H4 while upgrading H1 to premium is not possible, Should I just upgrade my H1 to Premium so that I can know the results soon and have ample time (before the 180 days grace period) to apply for H4 extension(I-539).Is it true that H1B premium approval is risky compared to regular processing ?
3.Is it safe to go back to India within 180 days (after I-94 expiration) and get H4 stamping in her home country once I get my H1 Extension?
4.Should I just leave my H1B in regular processing and attach the H4 extension (I-539) to it? If attaching H4 is not possible, Can I file H4 separately and get it approved before 180 days expiration?
5.Once her H4 extension is approved, can she get her H4 VISA re-validated in US? Can she apply under �Nunc-pro-tunc� Category?

Hello,
I want to make it clear that I have read the manual that came with my D70... But I seem to be having an issue that I'm not exactly sure of the cause whereas I haven't altered any of the settings since I purchased/recieved it... unless I did something without realizing it.
One of the very first pic's I took with my D70 was of the moon. As you can see from my attached (cropped) image, "in my honest opinion anyway", I think they came out awesome rather decent for being taken "handheld" via a Sigma 300 mm kit lens...
Anyway... I took maybe a half dozen Moon'shots over the following couple of nights and everyone of them was "in focus" and relatively clear as the attached image... I proceeded to take other shots of various subjects over the following couple of weeks until one night the sky was crystal clear and there was a 3/4 Moon. I attempted to take the picture the exact way I took them the first couple of nights, with everything at its "default" settings (unless as I said I changed something without knowing)... What I found has left me bewildered. I can aim at & focus the Moon in crystal clear within the center brackets and then proceed to press the shutter release... only now "every single shot" will in the end, be nothing more than a gaint fuzzy snowball. I've even attempted taking a shot via the "Timer Release" feature whilest the D70 is mounted to a Tripod on solid ground, and its always the same thing. The image in the viewfinder is as "crystal clear" as I could ever hope for, yet when the picture is actually taken its a giant fuzzy snowball.
As I stated above, I've gone through the manual while looking at the camera in hand but I in no way remember ever changing anything where as this is my very first "fully adjustable" camera of anykind, digital or otherwise...
Any help would be truely appreciated...

Hi, I am in exactly the same situation. Would just the I-140 receipt number suffice? My employer also hasn't given me any copies of the I-140 and labor certification copies. My I-140 is approved and it's been more than 180 days since I-485 filing..please advise.

Generally, change of address to outside of the metropolitan area or different state is considered a red flag in the final adjudication process as the employment-based nonimmigrant status or intended place of employment is the "key" to the labor certification based immigration proceeding and labor certification remains valid only if the offered job in the place of employment continue to exist. From the perspective of the agency, one may move out of the intended place of employment either because of change of employment or loss of employment or other factors that contradicts to the inended place of employment for which a labor certification has been granted and the applicant is supposedly to work at the location once a green card is approved. Since the agency will not know why the address of residence has changed out of the intended place of employment metropolitan area or state, the last minute check can lead to issuance of RFE or in the worst cases, tranferring the file to a local district or field office for interview. Even if such move is justified in most of cases under AC 21, such RFE or transfer to local offices can cause delays in adjudication of the I-485 application. In some situation, while they deal with the RFE or local office interview scheduling, they can face the visa number retrogression. For this reason, those whose visa numbers are scheduled to become current in July and August 2010 may not want to move their place of residence out of the current metropolitan areas or the current states. Once they moved, they are required to report change of address in 10 days, knowingly failure of which can be considered a ground for deportation and denial of I-485 application. Accordingly, those who have already moved should file AR-11 within 10 days of move regardless of its impact on the final I-485 adjudication process. Thank you for your earlier help. I have one more question. My I485 with approved I140 EB2 catagory PD June 2006 is pending and God knows for how many days. My job as Mechanical Engineer is stable and employer is willing to help me. I have a PhD in Engineering with about 30 years experience in industry and teaching. I think enough publications are required for EB-1(b), my couple of my friends with PhD could not get enough evidence to be placed in EB-1(b).
Thank you for your earlier help. I have one more question. My I485 with approved I140 EB2 catagory PD June 2006 is pending and God knows for how many days. My job as Mechanical Engineer is stable and employer is willing to help me. I have a PhD in Engineering with about 30 years experience in industry and teaching. I am not sure how successful the effort of IV would be. I am not sure if all the work done by the core memberts and volunteers will help us to get quick of the mud we are in. I have a "plan B" and do not rely much on this mirage called Green Card. If it comes in a reasonable time - OK, if not - then I am gone. World is a wide interesting place and if one is a hard worker and a honest person, there is always opportunities.
But I contributed, I supported the IV effort and I am sure that I have done the right thing. Today is St. Patrick's day and that reminded me a saying of an old Irish friend: - "We better die standing instead on our knees". In our case it means that even if we do not achieve anything with this money and loose it, at least we prove that we are not just silly turkeys :p

I am in same situation. MTR approved to reopen 485 but online status not changed still shows 'denial notice sent'.
