P90X- Week 1

I did it! OK, so I've only completed one week of P90X, but I'm pretty proud of myself. I've been talking about doing it for over a year, and somehow my upcoming birthday (the big 3-0) wormed it's way into the calendar in my subconscious and I up and decided to start the program last week. When planning out my workout schedule (P90X Lean) a few days ago, I noticed that I will complete the entire 90 day plan on the eve of my big birthday. Interesting coincidence, don't ya think?

I find it extremely annoying when people my age complain about getting old...or any age for that matter. So what? A new decade? Big deal. I'll have a rocking new body to go with it. I feel like my life is barely getting started, and I refuse to let the number of trips I've taken around the sun mandate how I am supposed to feel. You'll never catch me lying about my age!

Speaking of how I feel... AWESOME. So my entire body aches, but it's the good kind of hurt... I know I've done a ton of work and I've started something that I really feel is going to change my life. Is it crazy that after only a week I can see a difference in my body? I never thought that was possible, but the proof is in the loose clothing. I could rave about this for days... I just love how hard it is... how diverse the workouts are... and of course the rush of completing it each day.

This program is HARD. It's about an hour a day of pushing your body to the limit. Even the yoga completely kicked my butt, and I hit the gym 5 times a week so I consider myself in OK shape. I will say that my upper body strength is pathetic, and I really struggle with push ups and pull ups. I can do squats for days, but the upper body portion is really tough and I'm really looking forward to a few weeks from now when I can actually accomplish more than I ever thought I could.

I also feel like I have less desire to eat junk. I suppose it's because of all the time and effort I spend on this program, if I reach for the ice cream I'd feel the soreness in my entire arm and my side would start to cramp ... this would likely stop me dead in my tracks.

There are 3 schedule options: classic, doubles, and lean. Since I tend to pack on muscle like a beast, I decided to go for the lean plan. I dig toned muscle and I'll always have giant calves, but I'd like to avoid manly arms and shoulders. For more info on P90X, head on over to beachbody.com and check it out. Unbelievable results.

Anyone tried any of the other beachbody workouts?

I'm totally hooked.
